How the Club Began:
A handful
of dirtbike riders from the Fruita / Loma area formed the Club
back in 1998 to bring desert and enduro racing back to the Grand
Valley (Grand Junction, CO) area. We filed incorporation papers
with the State of Colorado the next year, in April 1999, to make
it official. Since that time, our ambitions grew to where we
now put on races in both Western Colorado and Eastern Utah.
We only
meet when we need to -- typically at a restaurant in Fruita.
Our first
race was a desert race held on April 25, 1998 outside of Grand
Junction. It was sanctioned by the Utah Sportsmen's Riders
Association and drew a crowd of about 150.
Our last
race was a Hare Scrambles held in Grand Junction on
March 27 & 28, 2010 and drew 249 riders. The
Pro winner was
Chas Burbridge (again!). Overall "A" winner was
Dustin Walcher (Open A).
Overall
"B" winner was Craig Hasto (Open B) and Overall "C"
winner was Justin Geiger (Open C). Mini
winner was Anthony Hundtoft (Super) and Junior
winner was Bret Zitterkopf. Jessica Gerstner
won Beginning Ladies.
